WHY IT EXISTS
Projector 8 is where Sony’s lens system and installation flexibility take a major step forward.
The move to the 70 mm Advanced Crisp-Focused motorised lens changes more than sharpness. Powered lens control and memory are materially more useful in dedicated cinemas, especially where 16:9 and CinemaScope content share one screen.
With 2,700 lumens and the XR Processor, Projector 8 occupies a particularly useful middle ground: enough output for a substantial screen, while remaining firmly focused on premium dark-room cinema performance.

Scope screens using lens memories
Screen width, constant-height geometry, throw ratio and lens-memory or processing workflow should be established together so scope content uses the available image area cleanly.
4K120 movie/gaming systems
Confirm the required 4K/120 signal path, input-lag expectations and HDMI architecture while still preserving the projector settings needed for critical movie playback.
PROJECTION OPTICS
The lens determines what is physically possible.
Sony specifies motorised zoom, focus and shift with up to ±85% vertical and ±36% horizontal movement, making it significantly easier to integrate with CinemaScope screens than a manual fixed-position lens.
