DECISION CONTEXT
Two flagships, two design philosophies

The quoted brightness figures are close enough that this should not be treated as a lumen contest. NZ900 places exceptional emphasis on native contrast and its large all-glass lens; Projector 9 combines a little more quoted light with Sony's XR processing and ACF optics.

In a fully treated room, evaluate the image at the intended screen size and viewing distance. In a less ideal room, consider whether reflections will mask the black-level advantage that drove the choice in the first place.

HOW TO DECIDE

Match the projector to the room and design priority.

NZ900 is the stronger contrast-first proposition on paper; Projector 9 offers slightly more quoted light output and Sony’s XR processing. Both deserve room-specific modelling.

RoomDarkness, reflectivity and projector noise can outweigh brochure specifications.
OpticsCheck throw and shift before finalising the projector.
ProcessingConsider whether external HDR or aspect-ratio processing changes the decision.
